T82

Deutz-Fahr T82 – Shuttle ECU / Transmission TCU: REVERSE direction SV disconnected

Issue description

The control unit has detected that the control line for the reverse travel solenoid valve is disconnected, has an open circuit, or has a short to earth. The system automatically inhibits all operation of the tractor as a safety precaution.

Applies to these machines

  • Agroplus 310, 320, 410, and 420 Profiline series tractors
  • Deutz-Fahr Agrofarm series (410, 420, 430, 85, 100)
  • Same Explorer 90

Check the cause

  1. Check that the contacts on connector 'X54' at the shuttle ECU are not loose or corroded

  2. Check connector 'X61' (or 'X62' depending on model year) at the reverse drive solenoid valve to ensure it is securely connected and free of corrosion

  3. Test the internal resistance of the reverse solenoid coil using a multimeter to verify it is not open or shorted internally

  4. Inspect the wiring harness between the Shuttle ECU and the solenoid for any breaks, chafing, or shorts to ground

Repair steps

  1. Secure the Machine

Turn off the tractor, engage the parking brake, and ensure the machine is on level ground. The ECU will have already inhibited tractor movement.

  2. Locate the Components

Locate the Shuttle ECU and the forward/reverse directional solenoid valve block on the transmission.

  3. Clean and Reseat Connections

Disconnect connectors X54 (at the ECU) and X61/X62 (at the solenoid). Clean the pins with electrical contact cleaner, ensure no pins are pushed back, and firmly reconnect them.

  4. Replace the Coil/Valve

If the internal resistance test of the solenoid fails (indicating a burnt-out coil), remove the retaining nut on the solenoid valve and replace the coil magnet. If the valve itself is mechanically stuck or damaged, replace the entire forward/reverse electro-valve assembly.

  5. Repair Wiring

If the solenoid tests within specification, repair or replace the damaged section of the wiring harness causing the open circuit/short to ground.

  6. Clear Codes and Test

Reconnect all components, turn the ignition key to the 'ON' position, and use a diagnostic tool (such as the All Round Tester or SERDIA interface) to clear the T82 fault code. Start the tractor and test the forward/reverse shuttle operation to confirm the repair.
