Fendt 0.1.55 – Instrument Cluster (VDO): S036 - Hydraulic oil level sensor / switch fault

Sensor fault, wiring fault (or signal line fault). The system has detected a break in the cable, a disconnected sensor, or an internal failure of the hydraulic oil level sensor itself.

   Physically check the hydraulic oil level using the sight glass or dipstick to ensure the tank is not actually empty.

   Inspect the wiring harness leading to the S036 sensor on the hydraulic tank for chafed wires, breaks in the cable, or a disconnected plug.

   Disconnect the sensor plug and check for corrosion, moisture, or bent pins. Clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner.

   Use a multimeter to test the sensor's resistance and verify continuity along the signal line back to the instrument cluster/control module.

   Park the tractor on a level surface, engage the parking brake, and turn off the engine.

   Relieve any residual hydraulic pressure by actuating the hydraulic control levers.

   Locate the S036 hydraulic oil level sensor on the hydraulic oil reservoir.

   Disconnect the electrical wiring harness connector from the sensor.

5. 5

   Repair the broken wire or replace the damaged connector pigtail.

   Perform this step if the diagnostic checks revealed a wiring fault.

   Clean the area around the sensor to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic tank.

   Perform this step if the sensor is faulty.

   Unscrew and remove the old sensor.

   Have a rag ready to catch any minor oil drips, though the sensor is typically mounted above the fluid line.

   Install the new OEM hydraulic oil level sensor and tighten it to the manufacturer's specified torque.

   Reconnect the electrical connector securely.

    Turn on the tractor ignition and use the FENDIAS diagnostic tool or the tractor's terminal to clear the 0.1.55 fault code.

    Verify that the error does not return.
