Fendt 0.1.56 – Instrument Panel (A007 / Dashpanel) and Engine Control Unit (ECU, EDC / EMR): B089 - Temperature sensor, Deutz
Issue description
Indicates a failure related to the engine coolant temperature sensor. The system has detected a break in the wiring, a short circuit, or that the coolant temperature is reading outside the plausible setpoint area. The engine temperature is no longer monitored by the system.

Check the cause
Visual Inspection: Inspect the wiring harness and the electrical connector at the B089 coolant temperature sensor for physical damage, corrosion, or loose pins.
Circuit Testing: Consult the specific tractor circuit diagram (often listed as Sheet 36 for 'Deutz engine control' or the 'Dashpanel' circuit diagram) to trace the signal line. Test the wiring for continuity, shorts to ground, or shorts to power.
Sensor Resistance Test: Because the B089 is an NTC sensor, you can measure its resistance with a multimeter. The resistance should steadily decrease as the engine warms up. If the sensor reads an open circuit (infinite resistance) or a dead short, it has failed internally.
Diagnostic Tool Verification: Connect the SERDIA or FENDIAS diagnostic tool. Look for associated SERDIA fault codes FC:0037 or FC:0038, which confirm the coolant temperature is outside the target range or the circuit is broken.
Repair steps
Ensure the tractor is turned off, the key is removed, and the engine has completely cooled down
to prevent burns and relieve cooling system pressure.
Locate the B089 engine coolant temperature sensor
on the Deutz engine block/cooling system.
Disconnect the electrical connector
from the sensor.
Place a catch pan under the sensor area
to catch any escaping coolant if the diagnostic checks proved the wiring is intact but the sensor is faulty.
Unscrew and remove the faulty B089 temperature sensor.
Install the new OEM replacement sensor
and tighten it to the manufacturer's specified torque.
Reconnect the electrical harness
ensuring the connector clicks securely into place.
Top off the engine coolant
if any was lost during the swap.
Turn on the ignition and use the SERDIA or FENDIAS diagnostic tool
to clear the fault code (FC:0037/0038).
Start the engine and verify that the instrument panel is successfully monitoring the engine temperature
without throwing the 0.1.56 code.
