Fendt 0.1.59 – Instrument Cluster: Immersed tube fuel level sensor malfunction

Issue description

The system has detected a sensor fault, wiring fault, or signal fault with the immersed tube fuel level sensor (B007 or B034), resulting in no display or no monitoring of the fuel supply indicator on the dashboard.

Check the cause

  1. Check the fuses related to the instrument cluster and the A013 circuit board, as a blown fuse can cause a loss of sensor monitoring.

  2. Inspect the wiring harness and the separation point/connector for the fuel level sensor (X156 for sensor B007 or X182 for sensor B034) for chafing, breaks, or corrosion.

  3. Test the immersed tube sensor using a multimeter to check resistance/continuity. If the sensor reads completely open (infinite resistance) or shorted, the sensor has failed. If the sensor tests within normal resistance sweeps but the dash still shows empty, the fault lies in the wiring between the sensor and the instrument cluster.

Repair steps

  1. Preparation

    Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the ignition, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.

  2. Access the Sensor

    The B007 fuel level sensor is typically located on the left side of the tractor, directly on top of the fuel tank. Remove the left rear wheel and/or protective metal side panels to gain clear access.

  3. Disconnect Electrics

    Disconnect the X156 (or X182) electrical connector plug from the fuel level sensor.

  4. Clean the Area

    Thoroughly clean the top of the fuel tank around the sensor base to prevent dirt, dust, or debris from falling into the fuel tank during removal.

  5. Remove the Sensor

    Unscrew the retaining collar or remove the mounting bolts securing the immersed tube sensor to the tank. Carefully pull the long tube sensor straight up and out of the tank.

  6. Install the New Sensor

    Insert the new OEM fuel level sensor into the tank, ensuring that the rubber gasket/O-ring is properly seated to prevent fuel leaks. Secure the retaining collar or bolts.

  7. Reassembly

    Reconnect the electrical harness plug. Reinstall any protective panels and the left rear wheel (torquing lug nuts to factory spec).

  8. Verification

    Reconnect the battery and turn on the ignition. Verify that the fuel gauge on the instrument cluster now registers the correct fuel level and that fault code 0.1.59 is no longer active.
