Fendt 00.0.07 – A050 - ECU, basic control unit: Front PTO bus fault

Issue description

CAN bus communication to the front Power Take-Off (PTO) system has been interrupted or failed, causing the front PTO function to become non-operable with no display on the instrument panel.

Applies to these machines

  • 922 Vario COM III
  • 924 Vario COM III
  • 927 Vario COM III
  • 930 Vario COM III
  • 933 Vario COM III
  • 936 Vario COM III
  • 200 Vario (V, F, P, S)
  • 300 Vario
  • 400 Vario
  • 500 Vario
  • 700 Vario
  • 800 Vario
  • 900 Vario
  • 1000 Vario

Check the cause

  1. Verify the electronic power supply voltage to the A050 ECU, as power drops can trigger bus errors

  2. Inspect the CAN bus wiring (transmission and enhanced control bus) and connectors between the A050 basic control unit and front PTO components for shorts, corrosion, or broken wires

  3. Perform pin testing on the A050 ECU using a 160-pin adapter box to verify correct signal and voltage values

  4. Read the fault memory using FENDIAS diagnostic software to identify deep stored codes that cannot be cleared via the instrument panel

Repair steps

  1. Resolve Wiring Issues

Repair any damaged CAN bus wiring or connectors found during the diagnostic phase.

  2. EOL Programming

Connect the FENDIAS diagnostic tool and reprogram the A050 ECU (requires EOL 7.60 or higher).

  3. ECU Repair/Replacement

If EOL programming fails or the A050 ECU has suffered an internal failure (such as an EEPROM error), remove the basic control unit and send it to an agricultural electronics specialist for bench repair/testing, or replace it entirely.

  4. Recalibration

If the A050 ECU is replaced, program the new tractor data with EOL and recalibrate the transmission and hydraulic systems.
