00.0.16

Fendt 00.0.16 – A050 - ECU, Basic Control Unit: EPC CAN bus fault, Auto mode

Issue description

Communication failure on the CAN bus specifically affecting the rear Electronic Power Control (EPC) / Electronic Hitch Control (EHR) automatic mode, causing the EPC automatic functions to become non-operable with no display on the instrument cluster or terminal.

Applies to these machines

  • 922 Vario COM III
  • 924 Vario COM III
  • 927 Vario COM III
  • 930 Vario COM III
  • 933 Vario COM III
  • 936 Vario COM III
  • Fendt 200 Vario Series (207, 208, 209, 210, 211 V/F/P)
  • Fendt 300 Vario Series
  • Fendt 400 Vario Series
  • Fendt 700 Vario Series (COM III, SCR)
  • Fendt 800 Vario Series (COM III, S4)
  • Fendt 900 Vario Series (COM III, SCR, Gen6)

Check the cause

  1. Check the CAN High and CAN Low wiring between the A050 Basic Control Unit and the rear EPC/EHR components for chafed wires, corrosion, or loose pins.

  2. Verify that the A050 ECU is receiving proper electronics voltage supply (KL30, KL15) and has a solid earth ground (KL31).

  3. Scan for other A050 or CAN bus-related fault codes (e.g., 00.0.17, 00.0.18) which might indicate a broader network failure rather than an isolated EPC issue.

Repair steps

  1. Clear and Verify

Attempt to clear the fault code. If it immediately returns, proceed to wiring checks.

  2. Repair Wiring

If any physical damage is found on the CAN bus lines during the diagnostic checks, repair the wiring harness and re-test.

  3. EOL Programming

Connect the FENDIAS diagnostic tool to the tractor and perform an EOL flash/reprogramming of the A050 Basic Control Unit.

  4. ECU Repair/Replacement

If the A050 ECU fails to accept the EOL programming or has suffered internal hardware failure (e.g., burnt EEPROM), remove the unit and send it to a specialized agricultural electronics repair service or replace it with a new OEM unit.

  5. Calibration

After installing a repaired or new A050 ECU, perform EOL programming and run the calibration routines for the tractor's systems.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • A050 - ECU, Basic Control Unit

Requires dealer-level EOL programming via FENDIAS to match the tractor's specific equipment features and immobilizer data.
