Fendt 00.0.16 – ECU, EPC B: EPC CAN bus fault / Bus fault rear EPC automatic mode

CAN bus communication to the rear Electronic Power Control (EPC) unit has been interrupted, or the module is failing to report to the network. As a consequence, the rear power lift/hitch will not function, the automatic mode is disabled, and there will be no display for the lifting gear.

   Check the electronic power supply and ground to the EPC B ECU, including related fuses (e.g., A013 circuit board) and relays.

   Inspect the CAN bus wiring harness (connector X850) for chafed wires, corrosion, or loose pins.

   Check for overvoltage from the generator (exceeding 18 Volts), which can lock the control system.

   Check if other modules on the same CAN bus are reporting errors to isolate a severed CAN wire versus a failed EPC B module.

   Disconnect power

   Disconnect the tractor's battery before performing any electrical repairs.

   Access the module

   Locate the ECU, EPC B module. It is typically located in the cab console or under the right-hand armrest/fender area.

   Clean and re-seat connector

   Disconnect the wiring harness (connector X850). Clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner, check for pushed-out pins, and securely reconnect the harness.

   Repair wiring

   Repair any damaged CAN bus wires or power supply wires found during the diagnostic phase. Reconnect the battery and clear the fault codes.

   Replace or repair ECU

   If the wiring is intact and the fault persists, the ECU, EPC B module has likely failed internally. Replace the module or send it to a specialized agricultural ECU repair service.

   Perform EOL programming and calibration

   If the module is replaced, perform End of Line (EOL) programming. Once programmed, use FENDIAS diagnostic software to calibrate the rear power lift sensors (Position sensor Code 8002, Setpoint potentiometer Code 8001).
