00.1.72

Fendt 00.1.72 – 0000 - Overall system/tractor: A036 - Control panel, dashboard right/left. ESC button. Button non-operable.

Issue description

The "Esc" (Escape) key on the tractor's control console is not functioning. The system is not detecting any input from this specific switch, which usually points to a failed membrane keypad contact, an internal board failure within the control panel, or an open circuit in the wiring.

Applies to these machines

  • 309 Vario COM III
  • 310 Vario COM III
  • 311 Vario COM III
  • 312 Vario COM III
  • Fendt 300 Vario (COM III)
  • Fendt 400 Vario
  • Fendt 700 Vario
  • Fendt 800 Vario
  • Fendt 900 Vario series (922, 924, 927, 930, 933, 936, 939)

Check the cause

  1. Attempt to press the Esc button firmly to see if it registers intermittently. If it feels collapsed or lacks tactile feedback, the membrane is likely physically damaged.

  2. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors running between the A036 Control panel and the A007 Instrument cluster for chafing, pinched wires, or loose pins.

  3. Verify that the control panel is receiving proper supply voltage (typically 8.5V or 12V depending on the specific pinout for your model's A036 module).

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to protect the sensitive CAN bus and instrument cluster electronics.

  2. Access the Console

Remove the interior trim pieces surrounding the right/left dashboard control console (A036) to expose the mounting hardware.

  3. Remove the Control Panel

Unscrew the control panel and carefully pull it forward.

  4. Disconnect Harness

Unplug the multi-pin electrical connectors from the back of the A036 board. Inspect the connector for any green corrosion or pushed-out pins.

  5. Component Replacement/Repair

Because the Esc button is integrated into a membrane keypad, you must either replace the entire A036 control panel board, install an OEM button repair kit (membrane replacement), or send the unit to an agricultural electronics specialist for a board-level repair.

  6. Reinstallation

Plug the harness into the new/repaired control panel and secure it back into the dashboard.

  7. Clear Fault Codes

Reconnect the battery and turn the ignition on. To clear the stored fault codes in the A007 Instrument panel memory, press buttons A, B, and C simultaneously on the terminal.

  8. Verify Operation

Test the Esc button to ensure the fault code does not return.
