Fendt 00.1.72 – Instrument Cluster / Control Panel ECU (A007, A036, or A037): A036 / A037 - Control panel, dashboard left (or right/comfort actuation depending on the exact cab configuration). ESC button.

Issue description

The system detects that the ESC button is non-operable. This typically means the button is physically stuck, the internal switch contacts have failed, or there is an open/short circuit in the wiring connecting the button to the instrument cluster.

Check the cause

  1. Check the ESC button on the left dashboard control panel for physical damage, sticking, or accumulated dirt/debris that might prevent the button from returning to its resting position.

  2. Connect the FENDIAS diagnostic tool to monitor the live state of the ESC button. Check if the software registers the button as permanently pressed or completely unresponsive.

  3. Consult the 'VARIOWIN Instrument panel' circuit diagram. Check the wiring harness and connectors between the A037 control panel and the main instrument cluster for continuity, pinched wires, or corrosion at the pins.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical shorts while working on the dashboard electronics.

  2. Access the Control Panel

Carefully pry or unscrew the trim pieces surrounding the left dashboard control panel (A037).

  3. Remove the Panel

Remove the mounting hardware securing the control panel to the dashboard console.

  4. Disconnect Harness

Disconnect the electrical multi-plug connectors from the rear of the panel. Inspect the connector pins for oxidation.

  5. Component Replacement

Depending on the specific Vario model year, the ESC button may be part of a sealed membrane/circuit board assembly. If the button cannot be cleaned or individually desoldered/replaced, the entire A037 control panel module must be replaced.

  6. Reassembly

Connect the new control panel to the wiring harness and secure it back into the dashboard. Reinstall all trim pieces.

  7. Clear Codes

Reconnect the battery. Use the tractor's onboard diagnostic menu or the FENDIAS tool to clear the stored 00.1.72 fault code from the memory. Test the ESC button to ensure functionality.
