Fendt 00.1.74 – Instrument Cluster / Dashboard Control Unit (A037, A036, or A128): "Down" button on the left dashboard control panel is non-operable

The "Down" button is non-operable, meaning it is physically broken, stuck, or has suffered an internal circuit/membrane failure preventing it from sending a signal.

   Inspect the 'Down' button on the left control panel to see if it is physically jammed, sticky, or damaged.

   Consult the 'Instrument cluster' circuit diagram for your specific tractor model.

   Check the wiring harness and connectors between the left control console and the main instrument cluster for continuity or line discontinuity.

   Use a diagnostic tool (such as FENDIAS or an AGCO CANUSB scanner) to read the current status of the button and verify if the fault is active or stored.

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent short circuits while working on the dashboard electronics.

   Remove the Control Panel

   Carefully pry or unscrew the left dashboard control panel (A037/A036/A128) from the side console.

   Inspect Connections

   Disconnect the wiring harness. Inspect the connector pins for corrosion, moisture ingress, or bent pins. Clean with electrical contact cleaner if necessary.

   Test or Replace

   If the wiring is intact, the internal membrane keypad of the control panel is likely defective. You must either replace the entire control panel unit or send it to a specialized agricultural electronics repair shop (such as Ilgenfritz Mechatronics) for a membrane keypad replacement.

   Reinstallation

   Install the new or repaired control panel and reconnect the wiring harness.

   Clear Fault Codes

   Reconnect the battery and turn on the tractor. You must clear the stored fault code. Note: Cancelling a fault code from the display simply hides it; each stored fault code must be cleared individually using the terminal buttons or a diagnostic scanner so it does not reappear on the next startup.
