00.1.78

Fendt 00.1.78 – A007 Instrument Cluster: A036 - Control panel, Down key

Issue description

The system detects that the "Down" key on the control console has been pressed or actuated continuously for more than 30 seconds. This indicates that the key is physically stuck, the button is non-operable, or the internal release mechanism/membrane has failed.

Applies to these machines

  • 309 Vario COM III
  • 310 Vario COM III
  • 311 Vario COM III
  • 312 Vario COM III
  • Fendt 200 Vario series (V/F/P)
  • Fendt 300 Vario (COM III)
  • Fendt 400 Vario (COM III)
  • Fendt 700 Vario (COM III)
  • Fendt 800 Vario (COM III)
  • Fendt 900 Vario (COM III)

Check the cause

  1. Examine the 'Down' key on the A036 control console for dirt, sticky residue, or debris wedged in the button housing that could be holding the key down mechanically.

  2. Press the button to see if it springs back normally. If it feels collapsed or lacks a tactile 'click,' the internal membrane keypad or microswitch has failed.

  3. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the A036 Control Panel and the A007 Instrument Cluster for pinched wires or shorts to ground that might be sending a continuous 'pressed' signal.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the ignition and disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical shorts during disassembly.

  2. Remove the Console

Carefully pry away the trim surrounding the A036 control console/dashboard panel. Remove the retaining screws holding the panel in place.

  3. Disconnect Harness

Pull the panel forward and disconnect the multi-pin wiring harness connectors from the rear of the unit.

  4. Clean or Replace

If the button was merely jammed by debris, clean the keypad area thoroughly with electrical contact cleaner, ensure the button moves freely, and reassemble. If the internal switch/membrane is broken, the control panel board or keypad must be replaced.

  5. Reinstall

Connect the wiring harness to the new or repaired A036 control panel and secure it back into the dashboard.

  6. Clear Codes

Reconnect the battery, turn on the ignition, and use the FENDIAS diagnostic tool to clear the 00.1.78 fault code. Test the Down key to ensure proper operation.
