00.1.78

Fendt 00.1.78 – Instrument Cluster / Overall System ECU: A037 (or A036) - Control panel, dashboard left: Down button pressed > 30s

Issue description

The system has detected that the "Down" key on the left dashboard control panel has been continuously actuated (closed circuit) for more than 30 seconds. The system logic assumes the button is physically stuck, mechanically broken, or electrically shorted. As a safety precaution, the tractor's computer renders the button non-operable until the fault is resolved.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the 'Down' button on the left dashboard control panel for dirt, sticky residue, or debris that might be holding it down

  2. Press the button manually to check if it feels collapsed, lacks a normal 'click,' or fails to spring back into its neutral position

  3. Disconnect the A037 control panel and perform an electrical continuity test on the pins corresponding to the 'Down' button to check for an internal short

  4. Inspect the wiring harness and connector behind the A037 panel for chafing, pinched wires, or moisture ingress causing a short to ground

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor ignition and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes.

  2. Remove the Panel

Carefully pry or unscrew the A037 left dashboard control panel from the side console/dashboard housing.

  3. Disconnect

Unplug the electrical harness connector from the rear of the panel.

  4. Clean (If Applicable)

If the button is physically stuck due to debris, use electrical contact cleaner and compressed air to clean the switch housing. Re-test the button's mechanical action.

  5. Replace

If the button is internally shorted or physically broken, the control panel assembly must be replaced.

  6. Reinstall

Connect the wiring harness to the new/cleaned control panel and snap or screw it back into the dashboard.

  7. Clear Codes

Reconnect the battery and turn on the ignition. Test the "Down" button. Use the FENDIAS diagnostic tool to clear the inactive 00.1.78 fault code from the instrument cluster memory.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • Left Dashboard Control Panel / Switch Console (Component A037 / A036)

Look up the specific A037 panel in the AGCO/Fendt parts catalog using the tractor's exact chassis serial number (VIN). Ensure the replacement panel matches the exact button layout of the original unit.
