01.1.06

Fendt 01.1.06 – A050 - ECU, Basic Control Unit (EXT): Memory in EXT could not be reserved, EXT fault / A fault occurred when setting the parameters for the basic control unit.

Issue description

The basic control unit has encountered an internal memory or parameter-setting error (often an EEPROM or software checksum issue). Because the memory cannot be reserved or read properly, the Tractor Management System (TMS) is disabled.

Applies to these machines

  • 922 Vario COM III
  • 924 Vario COM III
  • 927 Vario COM III
  • 930 Vario COM III
  • 933 Vario COM III
  • 936 Vario COM III
  • Fendt 200 Vario (V/F/P)
  • Fendt 300 Vario
  • Fendt 400 Vario
  • Fendt 700 Vario
  • Fendt 800 Vario
  • Fendt 900 Vario (e.g., COM III, SCR, Gen6)
  • Fendt 1000 Vario

Check the cause

  1. Verify Active Faults: Check the tractor's terminal to see if the fault is currently active or stored. Attempt to clear the fault code; if it immediately returns upon key-on, it is a hard fault.

  2. Check for Related CAN Bus Codes: Look for communication fault codes (e.g., 00.0.01, 00.0.04, 00.0.05) which indicate a loss of CAN bus communication to the A050 unit. If these are present, diagnose the wiring harness, power (KL30/KL15), and ground (KL31) to the A050 ECU before condemning the module.

  3. Software Check: Attempt a software re-flash before replacing hardware.

Repair steps

  1. Connect diagnostic interface

Connect the FENDIAS diagnostic interface to the tractor's diagnostic port.

  2. Establish communication

Establish communication with the A050 Basic Control Unit.

  3. Perform EOL programming

Perform EOL programming to rewrite the parameters and software to the module.

  4. Cycle ignition

Cycle the ignition and check if the TMS functionality is restored and the fault code is cleared.

  5. Evaluate hardware failure

Hardware Replacement: If the EOL programming fails (the diagnostic tool cannot reserve memory in the EXT), the A050 unit has suffered an internal hardware failure (EEPROM failure).

  6. Remove defective unit

Remove the defective A050 Basic Control Unit from the tractor.

  7. Install new unit

Install a new or remanufactured A050 unit.

  8. Perform EOL programming on new unit

Perform EOL programming on the newly installed unit to configure it to the specific tractor's chassis, options, and immobilizer system.
