Fendt 01.1.7F – EDC (Electronic Diesel Control) Engine Control Unit: A036 - Control console: Hand throttle memory keys faulty (electric fault)

The system has lost communication with the A036 control console, specifically isolating an electrical fault within the hand throttle memory buttons. The tractor will retain its last speed setting. The engine speed can no longer be adjusted using the memory keys, but it can still be changed manually using the hand throttle or foot throttle pedal.

   Read fault memory using the Fendt SERDIA program to check for accompanying CAN bus or voltage errors

   Verify the voltage supply to the A036 control console and check the 500 mA microfuses on the A013 PCB (fuse board)

   Inspect the wiring harness between the A036 control console and the EDC control unit, specifically checking separation points X1357 and X1358 for corrosion, loose pins, or discontinuities

   Measure the terminating resistance and voltage on the Enhanced Controls Bus (K-bus) and Transmission Bus (G-bus) to ensure the network is intact

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the ignition and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes.

   Access the Console

   Remove the necessary trim panels on the right-hand mudguard or B-pillar to access the underside of the A036 control console.

   Clean and Reseat Connectors

   Disconnect the X1357/X1358 separation points. Clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner, apply dielectric grease, and reseat them. Reconnect the battery and test.

   Replace or Repair the Console

   If the wiring is intact and the fault persists, the internal circuitry of the A036 hand throttle memory keypad has failed. Remove the defective A036 control console assembly.

   Install the Part

   Install the replacement console and reconnect the wiring harnesses.

   Clear Faults

   Turn on the ignition. Use the dashboard terminal or the SERDIA diagnostic tool to clear the stored fault codes. (Note: Canceling a fault message on the dash only hides it; it must be actively cleared from the EDC memory).

   Perform a functional test of the hand throttle memory keys to verify the repair.
