01.1.B0

Fendt 01.1.B0 – A050 - ECU, basic control unit / A051 - ECU, engine control unit (EDC 7): CAN bus communication is restricted

Issue description

Data transfer over the Controller Area Network (CAN) bus between the tractor's primary control modules (A050 and A051) has been interrupted, corrupted, or limited, causing the tractor to enter a restricted operating mode.

Check the cause

  1. Check the CAN bus wiring harness connecting the A050 and A051 modules for cable breaks, short circuits, or corroded pins at the connectors

  2. Connect the FENDIAS or SERDIA diagnostic tool to read the specific CAN bus data and check if the CAN bus is completely passive or if there are specific byte address checksum errors

  3. Verify that both the A050 and A051 modules are receiving proper voltage and have solid ground connections, as voltage drops can restrict CAN communication

Repair steps

  1. Repair Physical Connections

If the diagnostic checks reveal a broken wire or short circuit on the CAN bus lines between A050 and A051, repair or replace the affected section of the wiring harness.

  2. EOL Reprogramming

If the wiring is intact, perform an End-of-Line (EOL) reprogramming of the modules to resolve corrupted software or EEPROM data mismatch.

  3. Load New Data Record

Using the FENDIAS tool, load a new data record into the A050 basic control unit and/or the A051 engine control unit.

  4. Clear Fault Memory

Use the SERDIA/FENDIAS diagnostic software to individually clear the fault codes from the memory of both the A050 and A051 modules.

  5. Test Drive

Cycle the ignition (Key OFF/ON) and test drive the tractor to ensure the engine is no longer torque-limited and that TMS functions have been restored.
