Fendt 01.1.F2 – A051 - ECU, Engine Control Unit: Manipulation protection message not available

The basic control unit sends a continuous security/anti-tamper message to the engine control unit over the CAN bus. When this message is missing, interrupted, or times out, the system flags a potential unauthorized modification (such as an aftermarket tuning box) or a communication failure. As a protective measure, the Engine Control Unit (EDC) forces a power reduction, limiting the diesel engine's performance to 70%.

   Visually inspect the engine wiring harness for aftermarket performance chips, tuning boxes, or unauthorized splices that might intercept ECU signals.

   Verify the CAN bus wiring between the A050 (Basic Control Unit) and the A051 (Engine Control Unit) for damage, corrosion, or poor connections.

   Check for accompanying fault codes (such as 01.1.A1 or 01.1.B0) which indicate a broader CAN connection fault or missing EDC messages.

   Connect a laptop with FENDIAS or Deutz SERDIA diagnostic software to verify if the engine configuration can be read from the EDC control unit.

   Remove Modifications

   If an aftermarket tuning box is found, disconnect it and restore the OEM wiring harness connections.

   Repair Wiring

   Repair any damaged, corroded, or shorted CAN bus wires/connectors at the A051 ECU (located near the right entrance step/battery case on many models).

   Clear Fault Codes

   Use the tractor's terminal or FENDIAS software to clear the fault. Note that Fendt COM III fault codes must be cleared individually, and the tractor must be restarted to see if the code returns.

   EOL Programming

   If the wiring is intact and no tuning boxes are present, the ECU may have suffered a software corruption. Use FENDIAS to perform EOL (End of Line) programming to re-flash the correct factory data record to the A051 Engine Control Unit.

   ECU Replacement/Repair

   If the A051 ECU cannot be communicated with or fails EOL programming, the Bosch EDC 7 unit has likely suffered an internal hardware failure and must be sent out for mechatronic repair or replaced.
