04.1.04

Fendt 04.1.04 – Transmission control system: Signal fault or failure of component B017 - Clutch pedal rotary position sensor

Issue description

Loss of enhanced control functions in the final speed control. Cruise control will not function, and the Tractor Management System (TMS) is automatically switched off. The underlying condition is typically a faulty sensor, a wiring signal fault, or a loss of the 8.5 VDC power supply to the sensor.

Applies to these machines

  • 309 Vario COM III
  • 310 Vario COM III
  • 311 Vario COM III
  • 312 Vario COM III
  • 922 Vario COM III
  • 924 Vario COM III
  • 927 Vario COM III
  • 930 Vario COM III
  • 933 Vario COM III
  • 936 Vario COM III
  • Fendt 300 Vario series
  • Fendt 400 Vario series
  • Fendt 700 Vario series
  • Fendt 800 Vario series (e.g., 824)
  • Fendt 900 Vario series (e.g., 916, 922, 924, 927, 930, 933, 936, 939, 942)

Check the cause

  1. Check the micro fuse responsible for the 8.5 V supply (usually fuse 05 or fuse 8 / A013, depending on the model)

  2. Disconnect the sensor and test the connector pins with the ignition ON (Pin 1: Earth/Ground, Pin 2: +8.5 VDC Supply, Pin 3: Signal output)

  3. Inspect the wiring harness for open circuits or shorts between the B017 sensor and the transmission control unit

Repair steps

  1. Access the Sensor

Remove the hatch cover located at the top of the steering column.

  2. Remove Panels

Remove the instrument panel to gain full access to component B017 (the clutch pedal rotary position sensor).

  3. Test the Component

Connect an OEM adapter cable directly to component B017 to verify if the sensor itself has failed internally.

  4. Replace

If the sensor is faulty and the 8.5V supply/ground are intact, remove the defective sensor and install the new replacement part.

  5. Reassemble

Reinstall the instrument panel and the steering column hatch cover.

  6. Calibrate

After replacing the sensor, you must calibrate the new clutch pedal sensor using the tractor's onboard diagnostic system. Enter calibration code 4001 to perform the clutch pedal sensor calibration.

  7. Clear Codes

Clear the 04.1.04 fault code from the system and test drive to ensure TMS and cruise control functions are restored.
