04.1.29

Fendt 04.1.29 – A039 - MFA (Multifunction Armrest): Joystick signal "park position" faulty

Issue description

The system is detecting an electrical signal fault, missing signal, or incorrect reading from the joystick when it is placed in the "park" or "rest" position. As a safety and operational precaution, the TMS (Tractor Management System) is switched off.

Applies to these machines

  • 922 Vario COM III
  • 924 Vario COM III
  • 927 Vario COM III
  • 930 Vario COM III
  • 933 Vario COM III
  • 936 Vario COM III
  • Fendt 300 Vario (COM III)
  • Fendt 400 Vario (COM III)
  • Fendt 700 Vario (COM III)
  • Fendt 800 Vario (COM III)
  • Fendt 900 Vario (COM III)

Check the cause

  1. Verify the 8.5V supply voltage to the control console. Check the A013 microfuse board (specifically fuses related to the armrest/transmission control)

  2. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the joystick and the A039 MFA circuit board for pin corrosion, backed-out pins, or wire chafing

  3. Test the A039 MFA using the official 160-pin adapter box to verify pin-out signals from the joystick to the armrest module

  4. Check the joystick physically to ensure no debris is preventing it from fully seating into the mechanical park/rest position

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent voltage spikes.

  2. Access the MFA

Remove the covers on the right-hand A039 multifunction armrest to access the joystick sub-assembly and wiring harness.

  3. Clean and Inspect

Clean the joystick contacts. If the physical switch/sensor for the park position is integrated and has failed, the joystick unit or the armrest console will need to be replaced.

  4. Replace Component

Disconnect the faulty joystick/MFA console and plug in the replacement unit.

  5. EOL Programming

If the entire A039 Multifunction Armrest is replaced, the new module will likely require EOL (End of Line) programming via FENDIAS (Fendt's diagnostic software) so it can report correctly to the A050 Basic Control Unit bus.

  6. Clear Codes

Reconnect the battery, turn on the ignition, and clear the stored 04.1.29 fault code from the tractor's memory. Test the joystick park position to ensure the TMS system reactivates.
