Fendt 04.1.2B – MFA (Multifunction Armrest) module: Signal fault or Faulty button on travel range selection I/II

The control unit is receiving an implausible, continuous, or missing electrical signal from the travel range selection button located on the multifunction armrest.

   Inspect the travel range selection I/II button on the joystick/armrest for physical damage, sticking, or debris lodged around the housing that might cause a continuous pressed state.

   Check the wiring harness and plug connections (often AMP Superseal connectors) leading from the button board to the main MFA module for continuity, corrosion, or shorts.

   Use the FENDIAS diagnostic software or the tractor's onboard terminal to monitor the live state of the button and verify if the signal state changes when the button is physically pressed.

   Attempt to clear the fault code (a key reset or restart is often necessary for transmission/valve-related codes) to see if it is a hard fault or an intermittent glitch.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts while working on the armrest.

   Disassemble the MFA

   Carefully remove the housing covers of the multifunction armrest to access the internal joystick and button boards.

   Isolate the Button

   Locate the travel range selection button (often integrated into a button board or the main joystick assembly).

   Replace the Component

   If the button itself is a modular plug-in switch (like the 30mm AMP Superseal switches used on some Fendt panels), unplug it, pop it out of the bezel, and snap the new one in. If the button is soldered to a circuit board or integrated into the joystick foil/membrane, you will need to replace the specific button board (e.g., AGCO button set repair kit) or the entire joystick assembly.

   Reassemble and Calibrate

   Reconnect all harnesses, reassemble the armrest, and restore battery power.

   Clear Codes

   Use the tractor terminal or FENDIAS to clear fault code 04.1.2B and verify that the transmission can successfully shift between travel ranges I and II.
