Fendt 04.1.2F – A039 (or A100) Multifunction Armrest (MFA): Faulty joystick signal 'v-' (joystick pulled back / to the rear)

The tractor will log a signal fault due to a faulty joystick signal 'v-' (joystick pulled back / to the rear), but continuation in emergency mode is possible.

   Access the tractor's diagnostic terminal to monitor the live inputs of the MFA joystick. Pull the joystick backward ('v-' position) and observe if the signal drops out, fluctuates, or fails to register.

   Check the joystick for physical damage, excessive play, or debris that might be preventing the lever from fully engaging the rearward microswitch/sensor.

   Inspect the wiring harness connecting the A039/A100 multifunction armrest to the main cab harness. Look for pinched wires, loose connector pins, or corrosion that could interrupt the CAN bus or signal transmission.

   Test the joystick's internal CAN circuit board for a failing microswitch or a degraded trace.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor ignition and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.

   Access the MFA

   Carefully remove the trim panels on the multifunction armrest to expose the base of the Vario drive lever/joystick.

   Disconnect the Joystick

   Unplug the electrical harness connectors at the base of the joystick.

   Remove the Assembly

   Unbolt the joystick assembly from the armrest console.

   Repair vs. Replace

   Send the defective joystick to an agricultural electronics specialist to replace the internal switches and repair the CAN circuit board, or install a new OEM joystick assembly into the armrest.

   Reassembly

   Reconnect the wiring harnesses and re-secure the armrest trim.

7. 7

   Calibration

   Reconnect the battery, turn on the ignition, and use the Fendt diagnostic terminal to clear the 04.1.2F fault code. Perform an End-of-Line (EOL) calibration for the new joystick to ensure the transmission control unit recognizes the exact center, full-forward, and full-backward ('v-') positions.
