Fendt 04.1.61 – A050 - ECU, basic control unit: Faulty valve actuation, travel range I

The system detects a supply failure, an earth-side (ground) fault, or a positive (+) side fault to the Y002 Solenoid valve. As a consequence, the transmission cannot switch into travel speed range I, and the tractor will be restricted to auxiliary operation or emergency mode.

   Verify the Code: Retrieve the active error codes on the tractor's terminal to confirm 04.1.61 is present.

   Consult Circuit Diagrams: Refer to the 'Transmission Control' circuit diagram (specifically noted as Sheet 6 in OEM manuals).

   Electrical Testing: Check the electrical circuit to the Y002 solenoid valve. You must test for a supply failure (open circuit), a fault on the earth (ground) side, or a fault on the positive (+) side.

   Component Testing: Test the resistance of the Y002 solenoid valve (typically measures around 7 Ohms).

   Safety First

   Park the tractor on a level surface, engage the handbrake, and turn the ignition OFF. (Note: The tractor may only be capable of driving in emergency mode prior to repair).

   Locate the Valve

   Locate the Y002 travel speed range I solenoid valve on the transmission control block.

   Inspect Wiring

   Disconnect the electrical connector to the Y002 valve. Inspect the pins for corrosion, moisture, or damage.

   Repair Harness

   If the diagnostic checks revealed a short or open circuit in the wiring harness between the A050 ECU and the Y002 valve, repair or replace the damaged wiring section.

   Replace Valve

   If the wiring is intact but the valve fails resistance testing or is mechanically stuck, remove and replace the Y002 solenoid valve.

   ECU Inspection

   If both the wiring and the solenoid valve are perfectly functional, the fault lies within the A050 Basic Control Unit itself. The ECU will need to be removed and sent to an agricultural electronics specialist (such as Ilgenfritz Mechatronics) for repair, or replaced entirely.

   Clear Codes

   Reconnect all components, turn the ignition ON, and use the FENDIAS diagnostic software or the tractor's terminal to clear the fault codes from the A050 ECU memory.
