Fendt 04.1.62 – A050 - ECU, basic control unit: Faulty valve actuation, travel range II

The system has detected an electrical or actuation fault with the Y003 - Solenoid valve, which is responsible for shifting the transmission into travel speed range II. As a consequence of this fault, the tractor cannot switch into travel speed range II, though continuation of driving in emergency mode (or restricted to range I) is usually possible.

   Measure the voltage at the Y003 solenoid valve (Earth pin 22). With the ignition ON, the engine running, and the tractor commanded to switch to travel range II, the voltage should read between 12 VDC and 14 VDC.

   Using a multimeter (ampere meter) in series, open and measure pin 92. The current draw of the Y003 solenoid valve should be approximately 1.3 ADC. Note that the valve is only energized during the actual switching operation.

   Check the B016 travel range detection sensor. A faulty detection sensor can cause the system to misinterpret the physical actuation of the valve, preventing the transmission from coming out of gear or shifting properly.

   Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the A050 basic control unit and the Y003 solenoid valve for open circuits, shorts to ground, or supply failures.

   Verify that the correct valve is connected and that the valve itself is not mechanically stuck or clogged.

   Park the tractor

   Park the tractor on a level surface, engage the parking brake, and turn off the engine.

   Locate the Y003 solenoid valve

   Locate the Y003 solenoid valve. It is mounted on the transmission valve block on the right side of the transmission.

   Access the valve block

   To gain access to the valve block, detach the right rear wheel and remove the corresponding side cover panel.

   Disconnect and inspect the electrical harness

   Disconnect the electrical harness from the Y003 solenoid valve and inspect the connector pins for corrosion or damage.

   Extract the Y003 solenoid valve

   If diagnostics confirm the valve is faulty, remove the retaining hardware and extract the Y003 solenoid valve from the transmission block.

   Install the replacement solenoid valve

   Install the replacement solenoid valve, ensuring it is properly seated.

   Reconnect the electrical harness

   Reconnect the electrical harness.

   Reinstall components

   Reinstall the side panel and remount the right rear wheel.

   Clear fault codes and test

   Clear the fault codes using the FENDIAS diagnostic system and test the tractor to confirm it successfully shifts into travel range II. (Note: If the valve and wiring are intact but the fault persists, the A050 basic control unit may have suffered an internal failure requiring repair or replacement, which will necessitate EOL programming.)
