04.1.63

Fendt 04.1.63 – A050 - ECU, basic control unit: Faulty valve actuation for the mechanical speed limiter (speed governor)

Issue description

The system has detected a supply failure or a PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) actuation fault to the Y005 solenoid valve, which restricts the rotation angle of the actuator shaft. When this fault is active, the tractor enters a protective limp mode, restricting the maximum travel speed to 30 km/h.

Applies to these machines

  • 922 Vario COM III
  • 924 Vario COM III
  • 927 Vario COM III
  • 930 Vario COM III
  • 933 Vario COM III
  • 936 Vario COM III
  • Fendt 200 Vario series (V, F, P models)
  • Fendt 300 Vario series (including COM III)
  • Fendt 400 Vario series (including COM III)
  • Fendt 700 Vario series (including COM III and SCR models)
  • Fendt 800 Vario series (including COM III)
  • Fendt 900 Vario series (including COM III and SCR models)

Check the cause

  1. Consult the 'Transmission Control' electrical circuit diagram (frequently noted as Sheet 6 or Sheet 29) to trace the circuit between the A050 ECU and the Y005 solenoid

  2. Test the electrical connector at the Y005 solenoid valve for a 12 VDC supply voltage when commanded by the ECU

  3. Inspect the wiring harness between the A050 ECU and the Y005 valve for open circuits, shorts to ground, chafing, or corroded connector pins

  4. Measure the resistance of the Y005 solenoid coil using a multimeter to determine if the coil itself has failed internally (open or shorted)

Repair steps

  1. Park and prepare tractor

Park the tractor on a level surface, engage the parking brake, and turn off the engine. Disconnect the battery if you will be repairing wiring.

  2. Locate valve

Locate the Y005 speed governor solenoid valve on the transmission control block.

  3. Disconnect harness

Disconnect the electrical harness from the Y005 valve.

  4. Repair wiring

If your diagnostic checks revealed damaged wiring or a faulty connector, repair the harness or splice in a new connector pigtail.

  5. Clean area

If the wiring is intact but the solenoid coil failed testing, clean the area around the valve to prevent dirt from entering the transmission hydraulic system.

  6. Remove faulty valve

Depressurize the hydraulic system if required by your specific model's manual, then unbolt and remove the faulty Y005 solenoid valve.

  7. Install new valve

Install the replacement OEM solenoid valve and torque the mounting bolts to the manufacturer's specifications.

  8. Reconnect harness

Reconnect the electrical harness to the new valve.

  9. Clear fault code

Reconnect the battery. Use the tractor's onboard terminal or the FENDIAS diagnostic tool to clear the stored 04.1.63 fault code.

  10. Test drive

Test drive the tractor to verify that the 30 km/h speed restriction has been lifted and the fault code does not return.
