04.1.76

Fendt 04.1.76 – EDC (Electronic Diesel Control) / Transmission Control Module: S047 - Switch, engine brake

Issue description

Signal fault, sensor failure, cable break, short circuit, or a communication error between the switch and the control module. When this fault is active, the tractor's safety protocols intervene and the TMS (Tractor Management System) is automatically switched off.

Applies to these machines

  • 922 Vario COM III
  • 924 Vario COM III
  • 927 Vario COM III
  • 930 Vario COM III
  • 933 Vario COM III
  • 936 Vario COM III
  • Fendt 300 Vario (COM III)
  • Fendt 400 Vario (COM III)
  • Fendt 700 Vario (COM III, SCR)
  • Fendt 800 Vario (COM III, S4)
  • Fendt 900 Vario (COM III, S4)
  • Fendt Favorit 700 and 900 series

Check the cause

  1. Locate the S047 engine brake tappet/foot switch on the cab floor

  2. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors for a cable break or short circuit, paying special attention to separation point/connector X140

  3. Perform a continuity test on the S047 switch to verify if it is mechanically or electrically faulty

  4. Verify the wiring integrity from connector X140 to the EDC control module to rule out a communication error

  5. Connect the FENDIAS or SERDIA diagnostic tool and look for associated KWP/SERDIA codes (such as FC:0034)

Repair steps

  1. Safely park the tractor, turn off the engine, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.

  2. Access the cab floor area to reach the S047 engine brake tappet switch.

  3. Disconnect the switch at separation point X140.

  4. If the wiring harness is damaged, repair the broken or shorted wires and re-pin connector X140 as necessary.

  5. If the switch failed the continuity test, remove the mounting hardware securing the S047 switch to the cab floor and install the replacement switch.

  6. Reconnect the X140 connector and restore battery power.

  7. Connect the SERDIA or FENDIAS diagnostic tool to clear the 04.1.76 (and any associated FC:0034) fault codes.

  8. Start the tractor and verify that the TMS (Tractor Management System) can be successfully engaged and is no longer switched off.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • Engine Brake Switch / Exhaust Brake Tappet Switch (Component ID: S047)

Located on the cab floor; connects to the main harness via separation point X140. Always order using your specific tractor's chassis number to ensure correct cab floor fitment.
