Issue description
The tractor will automatically restrict itself to "Emergency mode". This indicates a critical failure during the transmission's range change process, often triggered by a malfunctioning valve or a failure during the transmission's calibration (TEACH-IN) sequence.

Check the cause
Scan for associated codes using a diagnostic tool (such as FENDIAS or Jaltest) to confirm the 04.1.B1 code and check for any accompanying transmission or valve codes.
Physically and electrically test the transmission range control solenoid valves for proper resistance, sticking, or wiring harness damage.
Inspect the wiring harness and separation points (e.g., X1402, X1403, X169) connecting to the A050 Basic Control Unit for corrosion, bent pins, or loss of CAN bus communication.
Repair steps
Resolve Valve Faults
If a transmission range change valve is found to be defective during diagnostics, replace the faulty valve and repair any damaged wiring.
Perform TEACH-IN
Because this code triggers a "TEACH-IN error," you must run the transmission calibration (TEACH-IN) procedure using the tractor's diagnostic interface once the mechanical/electrical valve issue is resolved.
ECU Repair/Replacement
If the valves and wiring are intact but the A050 ECU continues to fail the TEACH-IN process or drops communication, the A050 Basic Control Unit itself is likely defective. Remove the A050 unit.
Send for Testing/Repair
The A050 unit can be sent to specialized agricultural electronics repairers (such as Ilgenfritz Mechatronics) who test and repair these specific Fendt modules.
EOL Programming
If you are installing a brand new or replacement A050 Basic Control Unit, you must perform EOL (End of Line) programming so the ECU can sync with the Tractor Management System (TMS) and the Engine Control Unit (EDC).
