Fendt 04.1.B5 – A002 - ECU, enhanced control / A050 - ECU, basic control unit: Checksum error ramp parameter, rapid reverse for Tractor Management System (TMS)
Issue description
The control unit has detected corrupted, missing, or mismatched data in its internal memory (EEPROM/Flash) specifically relating to the rapid reverse parameters of the Tractor Management System. Because the parameters cannot be verified, the system defaults to a safe state, and the TMS is automatically switched off.
Applies to these machines
9 machines- 309 Vario COM III
- 310 Vario COM III
- 311 Vario COM III
- 312 Vario COM III
- Fendt 300 Vario (including COM III)
- Fendt 400 Vario (including COM III)
- Fendt 700 Vario (including COM III)
- Fendt 800 Vario (including COM III)
- Fendt 900 Vario (including COM III)
Check the cause
Verify battery health, alternator output, and the main ground connections to the A002/A050 ECU to rule out voltage drops during cranking
Use the tractor's onboard terminal or FENDIAS diagnostic software to clear the fault memory, then perform a cold start to see if the code returns
Ensure there are no accompanying CAN bus communication faults (e.g., 00.0.01 or 01.1.B0) which might indicate a wiring harness issue rather than an internal ECU failure
Repair steps
Connect diagnostic interface
Connect the Fendt FENDIAS diagnostic interface to the tractor's diagnostic port.
Navigate to ECU programming
Navigate to the programming menu for the A002 (or A050) ECU.
Perform EOL programming
Perform an EOL (End-Of-Line) programming procedure. This will overwrite the corrupted memory blocks and reload the correct factory TMS rapid reverse parameters and checksums.
Test tractor operation
Cycle the ignition (key reset) and test the tractor to verify that the TMS can be engaged and the rapid reverse function operates smoothly.
Replace ECU if necessary
If the EOL programming fails to write, or if the 04.1.B5 fault code returns immediately after a successful flash, the ECU's internal EPROM/Flash memory is physically defective. The A002/A050 ECU must be replaced, followed by a fresh EOL programming of the new module.
