04.1.CB

Fendt 04.1.CB – A050 - ECU, basic control unit: Travel range button "under excessive pressure"

Issue description

The system detects a signal fault, CAN bus actuation fault, or a physical fault where the travel speed range selection button (Range I/II) is reading as continuously pressed or stuck.

Applies to these machines

  • 922 Vario COM III
  • 924 Vario COM III
  • 927 Vario COM III
  • 930 Vario COM III
  • 933 Vario COM III
  • 936 Vario COM III
  • Fendt 200 V/F/P Vario Series
  • Fendt 300 Vario (COM III)
  • Fendt 400 Vario (COM III)
  • Fendt 700 Vario (COM III)
  • Fendt 800 Vario (COM III)
  • Fendt 900 Vario (COM III) (916, 920, 922, 924, 926, 927, 930, 933, 936)

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the Travel Range I/II selection button on the multifunction armrest joystick. Check if the button is physically stuck, jammed by debris, or damaged.

  2. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the A039/A100 Multifunction Armrest and the A050 Basic Control Unit for shorts, corrosion, or CAN bus communication faults.

  3. According to the Fendt workshop manual, use a 160-pin adapter box to test the A039 multifunction armrest (MFA) signals directly to verify if the potentiometer/button is sending a continuous "pressed" signal.

  4. Check if the range control I/II is registering in neutral. If it is not in neutral, attempt to manually set the transmission to neutral via emergency operation.

Repair steps

  1. Clean the Switch

If the travel range button is physically sticking, use electrical contact cleaner to clear any debris around the button housing on the joystick.

  2. Replace the Component

If the button/potentiometer has failed internally (signal fault) and cannot be freed, the specific switch or the Multifunction Armrest (MFA) joystick assembly must be replaced.

  3. Perform Calibration

After repairing or replacing the armrest components, you must perform Calibration 4003 (Travel range selector) via the tractor's terminal to teach the A050 ECU the new neutral and engagement positions.

  4. Clear Codes

Access the tractor's diagnostic menu to confirm, call up, and delete the 04.1.CB fault code.

  5. Test Drive

Restart the tractor and verify that the travel range can be shifted between Range I and Range II without triggering the "excessive pressure" warning.
