04.1.E6

Fendt 04.1.E6 – A002 - ECU, enhanced control / A050 - Basic control unit ECU: Incorrect checksum, load limit control parameters

Issue description

Data stored in the control unit's EEPROM/memory regarding the load limit control has become corrupted or invalid, resulting in a checksum mismatch. The transmission will default to an emergency operating mode.

Applies to these machines

  • 309 Vario COM III
  • 310 Vario COM III
  • 311 Vario COM III
  • 312 Vario COM III
  • Fendt 300 Vario
  • Fendt 400 Vario
  • Fendt 700 Vario
  • Fendt 800 Vario
  • Fendt 900 Vario
  • Fendt 916
  • Fendt 920
  • Fendt 924
  • Fendt 926
  • Fendt 930

Check the cause

  1. Verify Emergency Mode: Confirm that the transmission is actually in emergency mode, as this code forces the system to restrict standard transmission functions.

  2. Check for Accompanying Codes: Look for other A002/A050 internal memory faults (such as 04.1.B2 EPROM programming faulty or 04.1.FF Internal fault RAM/EEPROM).

  3. Verify Power Supply: Ensure the A002/A050 ECU is receiving proper voltage (KL30, KL15) and has a solid ground (KL31), as voltage spikes or drops can cause memory corruption.

Repair steps

  1. Connect diagnostic tool

Connect the tractor to the FENDIAS diagnostic system (or equivalent dealer-level AGCO diagnostic tool).

  2. Perform EOL programming

Perform EOL (End of Line) programming on the A002 / A050 control unit. This process rewrites the correct factory parameters (including the load limit control mapping) back into the ECU's memory based on the tractor's specific chassis number.

  3. Clear fault codes

Clear the fault codes from the memory.

  4. Test tractor

Cycle the ignition and test the tractor under load to ensure the load limit control functions normally (default setting is usually a 14% engine speed reduction allowance).

  5. Replace or repair ECU

If the EOL programming fails to write, or if the code immediately returns after a battery reset, the EEPROM inside the A002/A050 ECU is physically damaged and the control unit must be repaired or replaced.
