04.1.E7

Fendt 04.1.E7 – A050 - ECU, basic control unit: Incorrect checksum, joystick parameters

Issue description

The basic control unit has detected corrupted or invalid data (checksum error) regarding the programming parameters for the multifunction joystick. The tractor is still possible to drive, but it will operate using default values for the joystick rather than user-defined or calibrated settings.

Applies to these machines

  • 922 Vario COM III
  • 924 Vario COM III
  • 927 Vario COM III
  • 930 Vario COM III
  • 933 Vario COM III
  • 936 Vario COM III
  • Fendt 300 Vario series
  • Fendt 400 Vario series
  • Fendt 700 Vario series
  • Fendt 800 Vario series
  • Fendt 900 Vario series

Check the cause

  1. Access the tractor's multiple display terminal to view active fault codes and confirm that 04.1.E7 is currently active.

  2. Test the joystick to see if it operates normally under default parameters or if specific auxiliary functions are failing.

  3. Attempt to clear the code using the terminal buttons by pressing the arrow keys simultaneously on the fault screen.

  4. Check for other CAN bus or A050 memory errors (such as 04.1.CF - Internal error) which might indicate a hardware failure of the ECU rather than just a corrupted parameter.

Repair steps

  1. Connect diagnostic software

Connect the tractor to the FENDIAS diagnostic software via the diagnostic port.

  2. Navigate to module

Navigate to the A050 Basic Control Unit module.

  3. Perform EOL programming

Perform EOL (End of Line) programming for the joystick parameters. This will rewrite the correct software parameters and recalculate the checksums, resolving the data corruption.

  4. Clear fault memory

Once EOL programming is complete, clear the fault memory in the A050 ECU.

  5. Cycle ignition and test

Cycle the tractor's ignition and test the joystick functions to ensure the fault code does not return.

  6. Repair or replace ECU

If EOL programming fails to write, or if the checksum error immediately returns, the EEPROM inside the A050 Basic Control Unit is likely defective and the ECU will need to be repaired or replaced.
