04.1.E9

Fendt 04.1.E9 – A050 ECU (Basic Control Unit): A050 - ECU, basic control unit

Issue description

Incorrect parameters, range control addresses 950-994 or Speed selection parameters incorrect. This indicates a data corruption or parameter mismatch within the transmission range control programming of the basic operating system.

Applies to these machines

  • 922 Vario COM III
  • 924 Vario COM III
  • 927 Vario COM III
  • 930 Vario COM III
  • 933 Vario COM III
  • 936 Vario COM III
  • 300 Vario (COM III)
  • 400 Vario (COM III) (e.g., 409, 410, 411, 412)
  • 700 Vario (COM III) (e.g., 711, 712, 714, 716)
  • 800 Vario (COM III) (e.g., 815, 817, 818)
  • 900 Vario (COM III) (e.g., 916, 920, 924, 926, 927, 930, 933, 936)

Check the cause

  1. Check for associated transmission codes such as 04.1.EA (Error in checksum parameter for transmission teeth number) or 04.1.EB (B016 travel range detection sensor checksum error/missing calibration).

  2. Verify drivability to see if the tractor can still be driven (continuation in emergency mode is often possible).

  3. Connect the FENDIAS diagnostic tool to the tractor's diagnostic port and read the current EOL (End of Line) parameters for the transmission speed selection and range control addresses (950-994) to verify data corruption.

Repair steps

  1. Connect diagnostic software

Connect a laptop with the FENDIAS diagnostic software to the tractor's transmission and comfort bus.

  2. Navigate to EOL programming

Navigate to the EOL programming section for the A050 Basic Control Unit.

  3. Reprogram parameters

Reprogram the speed selection parameters and range control addresses (950-994) with the correct factory values for the specific tractor model.

  4. Calibrate transmission range control

If sensor B016 (travel range detection) was also flagged, perform a transmission range control calibration using calibration code 4003.

  5. Clear fault codes

Clear the fault codes. Note: Fault codes stored in the A050 ECU cannot be deleted via the dashboard buttons; they must be cleared using the FENDIAS diagnostic software.

  6. Test drive

Test drive the tractor to ensure range changes operate correctly.

  7. Repair or replace ECU

If EOL programming fails, or if the ECU suffers from internal EEPROM errors (e.g., codes 08.1.A1 / 09.1.A1), the A050 Basic Control Unit is defective and must be removed and sent to a specialist for repair or replaced entirely. If replaced, the new A050 ECU must be taught to recognize the A077 Immobilizer ECU (if equipped) and undergo complete EOL programming.
