04.1.EA

Fendt 04.1.EA – A002 - ECU, enhanced control / A050 - ECU, basic control unit: Internal fault (RAM / EEPROM) / Error in checksum parameter for transmission teeth number

Issue description

Internal memory or parameter error within the tractor's control unit. The Tractor Management System (TMS) is switched off until the next cold start, and the tractor defaults to a transmission emergency operating mode.

Applies to these machines

  • 309 Vario COM III
  • 310 Vario COM III
  • 311 Vario COM III
  • 312 Vario COM III
  • 200 V/F/P Vario (207, 208, 209, 210, 211)
  • 300 Vario COM III (309, 310, 311, 312)
  • 400 Vario COM III (409, 410, 411, 412)
  • 700 Vario COM III (711, 712, 714, 716)
  • 800 Vario COM III (815, 817, 818)
  • 900 Vario COM III (916, 920, 922, 924, 926, 927, 930, 933, 936)

Check the cause

  1. Perform a cold start reset by cycling the tractor's power completely (key off, wait for power down, key on) to see if the checksum error clears.

  2. Connect the FENDIAS or SERDIA service diagnostics program.

  3. Check the ECU load values in the diagnostics menu (an unloaded A002 ECU indicates a value of around 22000; if loading increases, a lower value is shown).

  4. Verify the transmission parameters, specifically the transmission teeth number, to check for corrupted data.

Repair steps

  1. Perform EOL Programming

Use the FENDIAS diagnostic tool to perform EOL (End-Of-Line) programming to re-flash or rewrite the transmission parameters and software to the A002 / A050 ECU.

  2. Test Drive

After EOL programming is complete, restart the tractor and verify that the TMS system initializes properly and the transmission emergency mode is deactivated.

  3. Replace ECU (If EOL Fails)

If the EOL programming fails to write, or if the code immediately returns, physically replace the A002 (or A050) control unit box, followed by a fresh EOL programming sequence to pair the new module to the tractor's immobilizer and transmission.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • A002 - ECU, enhanced control (or A050 - ECU, basic control unit)

Must be flash-programmed (EOL programming) by a dealer before the tractor will operate normally, as it contains the immobilizer data and specific transmission calibration parameters.
