Fendt 04.1.EB – A050 basic control unit ECU: B016 - Sensor, travel range detection
Issue description
This code indicates a checksum error or that the range control calibration is missing. The transmission travel speed range is not being recognized correctly by the system. As a result, the Tractor Management System (TMS) is switched off, and range control shifting becomes impossible (the transmission will remain in the currently engaged range).

Check the cause
Check the Power Supply: The B016 sensor relies on an 8.5 V supply. Check the A013 fuse board (specifically fuse 06, 08, or 13, depending on your exact Vario model/generation) to ensure the fuse is not blown and the 8.5 V supply is intact.
Inspect Wiring and Connectors: Check the wiring harness and connectors leading to the B016 sensor for corrosion, chafing, or signal faults.
Check for Related Codes: Ensure there are no active faults for the B014 (collecting shaft sensor) or B015 (bevel pinion sensor), as these will prevent successful calibration of the B016 sensor.
Repair steps
Attempt Calibration First
Enter the Fendt terminal diagnostic menu and initiate Calibration Code 4003 (Travel range selector / Sensor, travel range detection).
Meet Calibration Prerequisites
For Calibration 4003 to run successfully, the following conditions must be met: Tractor speed must be exactly 0 km/h (it will fail if speed is > 0.1 km/h). Engine speed must be between 600 rpm and 900 rpm. Transmission must be in Neutral. The clutch pedal must be fully depressed.
Replace the Sensor
If the calibration fails, aborts, or the fault immediately returns, the B016 sensor is internally faulty and must be replaced.
Recalibrate
After physically installing the new B016 sensor, you must perform Calibration Code 4003 again to teach the A050 ECU the new sensor's parameters.
Parts you might need
(1)Travel speed range detection sensor (B016)
A specific 10-digit Fendt/AGCO part number is not explicitly listed in the standard fault code tables (it is cataloged by chassis number in Epsilon/AGCO Parts Books). You will need to order the part using the generic name 'B016 Travel Range Detection Sensor' and provide your exact chassis number to the dealer.
