05.1.56

Fendt 05.1.56 – A050 - ECU, basic control unit: Checksum error, 4WD/differential lock parameters

Issue description

Data corruption or memory error regarding the four-wheel drive and differential lock settings within the control unit. As a direct consequence, the tractor's automatic modes for 4WD and the differential lock are disabled.

Applies to these machines

  • 922 Vario COM III
  • 924 Vario COM III
  • 927 Vario COM III
  • 930 Vario COM III
  • 933 Vario COM III
  • 936 Vario COM III
  • 200 V/F/P Vario series
  • 300 Vario (COM III)
  • 400 Vario (COM III)
  • 700 Vario (COM III and SCR)
  • 800 Vario (COM III and SCR)
  • 900 Vario (COM III and SCR)

Check the cause

  1. Verify symptoms: Confirm that the automatic 4WD and differential lock modes are inoperative, but check if the manual 100% 4WD/differential lock keys still function.

  2. Check related inputs: Ensure that related hardware isn't causing the system to halt the auto mode. Inspect the steering angle sensor, the 100% 4WD key, the automatic 4WD key, and the 4WD clutch solenoid valve for faults.

  3. Read full fault memory: Connect the Fendt FENDIAS diagnostic software to read the A050 ECU. Check for any accompanying voltage or CAN bus communication faults that might have caused the memory corruption.

Repair steps

  1. Connect Diagnostic Tool

Connect the FENDIAS diagnostic software to the tractor's diagnostic port.

  2. Perform EOL Programming

Execute an EOL (End-Of-Line) programming procedure on the A050 Basic Control Unit. This will rewrite the corrupted 4WD/differential lock parameters and restore the correct checksums.

  3. Clear Fault Codes

Use the diagnostic software to clear the fault memory. (Note: Fault codes stored in the A050 ECU cannot be deleted using the dashboard/instrument panel buttons; they must be cleared via the diagnostic software).

  4. Test Operation

Restart the tractor and test the automatic 4WD and differential lock functions to ensure they engage and disengage properly based on steering angle and speed.

  5. ECU Repair/Replacement

If EOL programming fails to resolve the checksum error, the A050 ECU has likely suffered an internal EEPROM/hardware failure. The unit must be removed and sent to a specialized agricultural electronics repair service or replaced entirely.

Parts you might need
