05.1.64

Fendt 05.1.64 – A004 or A002: A036 - 'Suspension ON' key faulty

Issue description

The signal from the 'Suspension ON' key is faulty (Signal fault / Faulty button). The suspension system becomes non-operational, but the tractor can still be driven.

Applies to these machines

  • 309 Vario COM III
  • 310 Vario COM III
  • 311 Vario COM III
  • 312 Vario COM III
  • FENDT 300 Vario (COM III)
  • FENDT 400 Vario (COM III)
  • FENDT 700 Vario (COM III)
  • FENDT 800 Vario (COM III)
  • FENDT 900 Vario (COM III)

Check the cause

  1. Connect the FENDIAS diagnostic tool to confirm the fault code is active and check for any related CAN bus communication errors between A004 and A002

  2. Test the physical 'Suspension ON' button on the A036 control panel for sticking, physical damage, or debris

  3. Check the wiring harness and connectors between the A036 control panel and the A004/A002 ECUs for continuity, corrosion, or shorts to ground/power

  4. Verify the control panel is receiving the correct reference voltage (check relevant fuses in the A013 fuse block)

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery before working on the electrical system.

  2. Access the Control Panel

Carefully remove the trim surrounding the A036 comfort actuation control panel / dashboard.

  3. Disconnect Harness

Unplug the multi-pin connector from the back of the control panel. Inspect the pins for fretting or moisture.

  4. Replace or Repair

If the wiring tests good but the button signal remains faulty, the A036 control panel (or the specific switch module, depending on the exact cab configuration) must be replaced or sent to a specialist for board-level repair.

  5. Reassembly

Reconnect the wiring harness and reinstall the control panel into the console.

  6. Clear Codes & Calibrate

Reconnect the battery, turn the key on, and use the FENDIAS system (or the tractor's onboard diagnostic menu) to clear the 05.1.64 fault code. Test the suspension system to ensure it engages and levels correctly.
