05.1.8F

Fendt 05.1.8F – A050 - ECU, basic control unit: Checksum error, old auto mode sequence data.

Issue description

The control unit has detected a checksum mismatch or corruption in the stored sequence data for the tractor's automatic modes (such as differential lock auto system or 4WD auto modes), resulting in the auto mode functions being disabled.

Applies to these machines

  • 922 Vario COM III
  • 924 Vario COM III
  • 927 Vario COM III
  • 930 Vario COM III
  • 933 Vario COM III
  • 936 Vario COM III
  • Fendt 900 Vario (COM III)
  • Fendt 700-900 Vario SCR
  • Fendt 800 Vario SCR
  • Fendt 300 Vario (COM III)

Check the cause

  1. Verify if the fault is currently active or just stored in history using the tractor's multiple display or a diagnostic tool like FENDIAS or TEXA.

  2. Test the multifunction armrest (MFA) buttons for the front/rear auto mode and auto mode stop to confirm if the system is completely locked out.

  3. Scan for related A050 memory codes (e.g., 05.1.8D, 01.1.04, 01.1.06, or F30/F31). Multiple memory errors indicate the ECU's internal memory may be physically failing.

Repair steps

  1. Perform EOL programming

The official factory remedy for fault code 05.1.8F is to perform EOL (End-Of-Line) programming.

  2. Connect diagnostic software

Connect the tractor to the FENDIAS diagnostic software (or an equivalent dealer-level tool like TEXA).

  3. Reflash/reprogram the A050 Basic Control Unit

Reflash/reprogram the A050 Basic Control Unit to rewrite the corrupted auto mode sequence data and correct the checksum mismatch.

  4. Clear fault codes

Clear the fault codes using the diagnostic software. Note: Fault codes in the A050 ECU cannot be deleted via the dashboard button combination.

  5. Repair or replace ECU

If the EOL programming fails to write to the module, or if the code immediately returns after a battery cycle, the EEPROM inside the A050 Basic Control Unit is defective. The unit must be removed and either sent to a specialized agricultural electronics repair center or replaced entirely.
