Fendt 06.1.01 – REAR PTO ENHANCED CONTROL: Rear PTO ON / OFF key in cab

Issue description

The system has detected an invalid signal, a missing signal, or a bus communication error from the rear PTO switch located inside the cab. As a safety precaution, the tractor's control system automatically disengages the rear PTO.

Applies to these machines

  • 312 Vario COM III

Check the cause

  1. Test if the PTO can be engaged by pressing and holding the emergency PTO button in the cab for 5 seconds, or by using the external fender switches to isolate the issue to the cab switch.

  2. Inspect the physical condition of the Rear PTO ON/OFF button (A036 or A039) to ensure it is not physically stuck or damaged.

  3. Inspect the wiring harness and connector at the back of the switch for corrosion, backed-out pins, or chafed wires.

  4. If equipped with the Multifunction Armrest (A039), verify that other armrest controls are functioning to rule out a broader MFA bus failure.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts during repair.

  2. Access the Switch

Depending on your model's configuration, carefully pry up the control console bezel (for A036 dashboard switches) or open the multifunction armrest housing (for A039 switches) to access the rear of the PTO button.

  3. Disconnect

Unplug the electrical harness connector from the faulty switch.

  4. Remove and Replace

Depress the retaining tabs on the sides of the switch body and push it out of the panel. Snap the new OEM switch into place and reconnect the wiring harness.

  5. Reassemble

Secure the console or armrest housing back into its original position.

  6. Clear Codes

Reconnect the battery. Use the tractor's terminal display or the FENDIAS service diagnostics program to clear the stored 06.1.01 fault code.

  7. Test

Start the tractor and test the rear PTO engagement to ensure the fault is resolved and the PTO stays engaged.
