Fendt 06.1.18 – Rear PTO (Power Take-Off) system / MFA (Multifunction Armrest): Speed preselection button 1000 signal fault

The system has detected a mechanical or electrical fault in the 1000 RPM PTO speed preselection button. Specifically, this code is often triggered if the 1000 RPM PTO speed preselection button has been pressed continuously for more than 30 seconds (indicating a stuck button) or if there is a break/short in the signal communication. As a consequence, the PTO speed cannot be modified or selected, and the PTO may disengage or refuse to engage.

   Inspect the 1000 RPM PTO speed preselection button on the armrest to see if it is physically stuck, jammed by debris, or failing to spring back (a button depressed for >30 seconds triggers this code).

   Turn the tractor's ignition off and back on to perform a system reset and see if the fault clears.

   Call up the fault codes on the Variotronic terminal to confirm if the fault is currently active or just stored in the history.

   Remove the armrest cover and inspect the wiring harness and AMP Superseal plug connections for the PTO switch cluster for breaks or shorts.

   Test the button's electrical continuity with a multimeter to verify if the switch contacts have failed internally.

   Preparation

   Turn off the tractor, engage the parking brake, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.

   Access the MFA

   Carefully remove the top cover/fascia of the Multifunction Armrest to access the internal switch panels and circuit boards.

   Locate the Switch

   Identify the PTO speed preselection switch cluster. Depending on the exact tractor generation, this will either be an individual push-button switch or integrated into a membrane keypad (Comfort Sticker Module).

   Removal

   For individual switches: Disconnect the wiring harness plug and unclip/unscrew the faulty 1000 RPM button from the console. For membrane keypads: Carefully peel off the old "Rear PTO & Lift" comfort module and disconnect its ribbon cable from the armrest circuit board.

   Installation

   Install the new switch or keypad module. Ensure the electrical connections are firmly seated and weather-sealed.

   Reassembly & Clearing

   Reassemble the armrest housing. Reconnect the battery, turn on the ignition, and use the terminal to clear the stored fault code.

   Test the PTO 1000 RPM engagement at a low engine RPM to ensure the fault does not return and the PTO engages correctly.
