Fendt 06.1.41 – A039 - MFA (Multifunction Armrest) or A036: Rear PTO ON/OFF button registered as pressed for more than 30 seconds

The Rear PTO ON/OFF button (in cab) has been registered as pressed for more than 30 seconds, interpreted as a mechanical jam or an electrical short/fault. As a safety measure, the speed selector automatically moves to Neutral, no PTO speed preselection is possible, and the PTO will disengage or refuse to engage.

   Check the Rear PTO ON/OFF button on the multifunction armrest for physical jams, debris, or sticky liquids.

   Connect the FENDIAS diagnostic tool to monitor the live state of the A039 MFA button inputs to see if it registers as continuously active.

   Use a 160-pin adapter box to test the A039 MFA module for a short to ground or voltage on the specific pin corresponding to the Rear PTO button.

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical damage during disassembly.

   Free the Button (If Mechanically Jammed)

   If the button is physically stuck, carefully clean the edges of the button housing with electrical contact cleaner and compressed air. Actuate the button several times to see if it springs back freely.

   Disassemble the Armrest

   If the button is electrically shorted or permanently broken, carefully remove the trim panels on the A039 Multifunction Armrest to access the switch panel.

   Replace the Component

   Disconnect the wiring pigtail for the Rear PTO switch. Replace the faulty switch. (Note: On some newer MFA revisions, individual buttons are soldered to a main PCB, requiring replacement of the switch cluster or the entire armrest top-half).

   Reassembly and Clearing Codes

   Reassemble the armrest, reconnect the battery, and use the FENDIAS system to clear the stored 06.1.41 fault code.

   Functional Test

   Start the tractor and test the Rear PTO engagement and disengagement to ensure the speed selector no longer defaults to Neutral.
