06.1.E4

Fendt 06.1.E4 – A050 - ECU, basic control unit: Checksum error, over/under step counter of PTO

Issue description

A software or memory parameter error where the control unit detects that the stored data for the Power Take-Off (PTO) step counter does not match the expected checksum value. The system will automatically revert to using default values to maintain basic functionality.

Applies to these machines

  • 922 Vario COM III
  • 924 Vario COM III
  • 927 Vario COM III
  • 930 Vario COM III
  • 933 Vario COM III
  • 936 Vario COM III
  • 300 Vario series
  • 400 Vario series
  • 700 Vario series
  • 800 Vario series
  • 900 Vario series

Check the cause

  1. Verify PTO operation to check if the rear/front PTO can still be engaged and if it operates at the correct speeds.

  2. Scan the A050 module for other EEPROM or checksum errors (such as 06.1.E5 or 06.1.E6) using a diagnostic tool.

  3. Attempt to clear the fault codes from the A050 ECU using the diagnostic software to see if the checksum error was a one-time glitch.

Repair steps

  1. Connect Diagnostic Equipment

Connect the tractor to the official FENDIAS diagnostic software (or an equivalent dealer-level tool).

  2. Perform EOL Programming

Perform EOL (End-Of-Line) programming. This process reflashes the A050 basic control unit and rewrites the correct parameters and checksums for the PTO step counter.

  3. Test the ECU Memory

If the EOL programming fails to write, or if the code immediately returns after the tractor is restarted, the A050 ECU has suffered an internal hardware failure (EEPROM/RAM fault).

  4. Repair or Replace the ECU

Remove the A050 Basic Control Unit. It must either be sent to a specialized agricultural electronics repair facility for board-level repair or replaced entirely with a new unit.

  5. Calibrate

If a new or repaired A050 ECU is installed, you must perform EOL programming again to match the module to the tractor's specific equipment.
