Fendt 07.1.B0 – A050 - Basic control unit ECU (EXT): A050 - ECU, basic control unit. Initialisation error on communication driver; CAN bus communication restricted.
Issue description
The tractor's basic control unit (A050) has encountered an internal error while trying to initialize its communication driver. This results in restricted CAN bus communication. The "07.1" prefix specifically designates a fault location related to the Front PTO (Power Take-Off) system. Due to the restricted communication, the system defaults to a safety state where the front PTO automatically switches off and cannot be engaged.

Check the cause
Verify the power supply (KL30, KL15) and earth/ground supply (KL31) to the A050 basic control unit.
Inspect the CAN bus wiring harness connecting to the A050 ECU for chafing, corrosion, or loose pins, as physical wiring damage can mimic an internal communication driver error.
Use the FENDIAS diagnostic software and the Fendt 160-pin adapter box (Tool No. X899.980.304.000) or adapter cable (Tool No. X899.980.304.201) to run a direct test on the A050 ECU.
Attempt to clear the fault code. If the code immediately returns upon key-on, the communication driver inside the ECU has suffered a hard internal failure.
Repair steps
Locate the ECU
The A050 basic control unit is typically located on the right mudguard/fender.
Access the Unit
Remove the interior trim panel covering the right mudguard to expose the ECU.
Disconnect Power
Disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical arcing or further module damage.
Remove the ECU
Unplug the multi-pin connectors from the A050 ECU and unbolt the unit from its mounting bracket.
Install or Repair
Install a new replacement A050 ECU, or send the defective unit to an agricultural electronics specialist (such as Ilgenfritz Mechatronics) for internal board repair.
EOL Programming
A new or swapped A050 ECU is not plug-and-play. You must use the FENDIAS dealer software to perform EOL (End of Line) programming. This syncs the new A050 unit with the A077 Immobilizer ECU and the A169 Engine Control Unit (EDC) so the tractor will start and recognize its specific equipment configuration.
