Fendt 07.1.E1 – A050 - ECU, basic control unit: Checksum error, front PTO parameterisation

Issue description

Software parameters or calibration settings stored for the front Power Take-Off (PTO) have become corrupted or invalid, resulting in a checksum mismatch. As a safety consequence, the tractor's system will ignore the corrupted settings and automatically use default values to maintain basic functionality.

Check the cause

  1. Verify if the front PTO is operating (it will run on default factory values rather than custom calibration settings)

  2. Check for accompanying A050 codes (such as 07.1.E2 or 07.1.E3) which indicate further checksum errors regarding the front PTO pulse width or pulse width rise

  3. Connect the FENDIAS diagnostic tool to ensure the A050 ECU is communicating properly on the CAN bus

Repair steps

  1. Connect diagnostic tool

    Connect the FENDIAS diagnostic laptop to the tractor's diagnostic port.

  2. Access control unit

    Access the A050 - Basic Control Unit module.

  3. Perform EOL programming

    Perform an EOL (End of Line) programming procedure. This will re-flash or re-parameterize the front PTO settings, overwriting the corrupted data and correcting the checksum error.

  4. Clear fault codes

    Clear the inactive fault codes from the A050 memory using the diagnostic software.

  5. Test PTO engagement

    Test the front PTO engagement to ensure the fault code does not return.

  6. Repair or replace ECU

    If the A050 ECU fails to accept EOL programming or repeatedly drops its memory/checksums, the ECU hardware itself (EEPROM/memory sector) may be failing and will require professional repair or replacement.
