Fendt 08.1.13 – Rear EPC: Short circuit related to the Y021 and Y022 solenoid valves
Issue description
The system has detected a short circuit on the solenoid valve circuit, specifically between pin 2 to 6 or pin 14 to 6. The electrohydraulic lifting gear control is immediately locked for safety, preventing the power lift from operating electronically.

Check the cause
Perform a mechanical override test on the Y021 and Y022 solenoid valves to ensure the hydraulic lifting and lowering functions still work mechanically
Inspect the wiring harness connecting the Rear EPC to the solenoid valves for rubbed, melted, or pinched wires that could cause a short to earth or battery voltage
Disconnect separation points X332 (Y021) and X333 (Y022) and test for continuity and short circuits specifically between pins 2 and 6, and pins 14 and 6
Measure the internal resistance of the Y021 and Y022 solenoid coils using a multimeter to determine if the short circuit is internal to the valve
Repair steps
Locate the Valves
Locate the Y021 and Y022 solenoid valves. Depending on the exact model, they are typically located on the rear power lift control block (or the standard front power lift block if the code is triggered on a front-PTO/lift specific circuit).
Disconnect Power
Turn off the tractor ignition and disconnect the battery to prevent further electrical damage during testing.
Disconnect Separation Points
Unplug connectors X332 (Y021) and X333 (Y022).
Isolate the Short
Based on your diagnostic pin testing, determine if the short is in the tractor's main wiring harness or inside the solenoid coil.
Repair or Replace
If the wiring harness is shorted, repair the damaged section of the wiring and apply heat-shrink tubing. If the solenoid coil fails the resistance test (internal short), unbolt and replace the faulty Y021 or Y022 solenoid valve.
Reassemble and Clear Codes
Reconnect the X332 and X333 connectors. Reconnect the battery, turn on the ignition, and use the FENDIAS diagnostic tool to clear the 08.1.13 fault code.
Operational Test
Test the raise and lower functions using the in-cab controls and external fender buttons to verify the EPC control is no longer locked.
