08.1.15

Fendt 08.1.15 – Rear EPC: S028, S030 - Lower button, rear power lift

Issue description

This code indicates a fault with the external "Lower" push buttons located on the rear fenders of the tractor. The system has detected an implausible signal, such as a button being physically stuck, a short circuit, or a wiring fault. Consequence: The system triggers a "Control locked" state. For safety reasons, the electrohydraulic lifting gear control locks out the rear power lift to prevent unintended movement.

Applies to these machines

  • 309 Vario COM III
  • 310 Vario COM III
  • 311 Vario COM III
  • 312 Vario COM III
  • Fendt 300 Vario series
  • Fendt 700 Vario series
  • Fendt 800 Vario series
  • Fendt 900 Vario series (e.g., COM III generation)

Check the cause

  1. Visual Inspection: Inspect the external rear power lift lower buttons (S028 and S030) on both rear fenders. Look for physical damage, packed dirt, or moisture that might be causing the button to stick in the depressed position.

  2. Switch Testing: Use a multimeter to test the continuity of the switches. Verify that the circuit opens and closes correctly when the button is pressed and released.

  3. Wiring Harness Check: Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the fender switches and the Rear EPC module. Look for chafed wires causing a short to ground or open circuits.

  4. Voltage Verification: Fendt tractors utilize different voltage systems for their electronic controls (e.g., 16V vs. 48V). Measure the voltage at the switch connection to ensure the module is sending the correct reference voltage.

Repair steps

  1. Preparation

Turn off the tractor and remove the ignition key. Clean the area around the faulty fender switch to prevent dirt from falling into the housing.

  2. Removal

Reach behind the fender housing and disconnect the wiring harness connector from the back of the faulty switch. Depress the retaining clips on the switch body and push it out of the fender mounting hole.

  3. Installation

Snap the new replacement switch into the fender housing until it seats firmly.

  4. Reconnection

Plug the wiring harness connector into the new switch. Ensure the weather seal is intact.

  5. Clear Fault Codes

Turn the ignition on. Fendt fault codes must be cleared individually from the terminal; cancelling a fault code only hides it temporarily. Navigate to the fault code menu and clear code 08.1.15.

  6. Testing

Test the rear power lift operation using both the in-cab controls and the newly installed external fender buttons to ensure the EPC is no longer locked and operates smoothly.
