Fendt 08.1.24 – EPC B (Electronic Power Control): External sensor, rear power lift

The system has detected a 'Signal fault' or a 'Faulty external sensor'. The rear power lift control is locked out from the cab. The system defaults to a safety mode where the rear power lift is 'operable via external button only'. In some models, the steering axle automatic mode may also be disabled.

   Visually inspect the external sensor/limit position potentiometer (A035) and external control socket (X015) at the rear of the tractor for physical damage, moisture ingress, or debris.

   Check the wiring harness between the sensor and the EPC B ECU (A024) for a signal line fault, short circuit, or corroded pins.

   Verify that the sensor is receiving the correct reference voltage from the ECU. Depending on the specific model, this is typically an 8.5V supply (via A013, fuse 14/15) or a 10.0V supply.

   Use the FENDIAS diagnostic tool or the tractor's Varioterminal to monitor the live signal from the rear power lift position sensor to see if the signal is erratic, stuck, or completely dead.

   Preparation

   Park the tractor on a level surface, lower any attached implements (if possible via the external buttons), apply the handbrake, and turn off the engine.

   Access the Sensor

   Locate the faulty external sensor/potentiometer (A035) or external control socket (X015) at the rear linkage assembly.

   Disconnect and Clean

   Disconnect the sensor plug. Clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner. If the wiring harness is damaged, repair the broken wires.

   Replace the Sensor

   If the wiring and voltage supply are good but the fault persists, the potentiometer/sensor has failed internally. Unbolt the old sensor and install the new OEM replacement.

   Clear Fault Codes

   Turn on the ignition. Access the fault memory in the Varioterminal and confirm/delete fault code 08.1.24. Note: Canceling a fault message does not remove the fault if the physical issue isn't fixed.

   Calibration

   After replacing a lift position sensor, you must perform an End-of-Line (EOL) calibration for the rear power lift position (Calibration code 8002). Ensure the engine is running and no other fault messages are active during calibration.

   Testing

   Test the rear power lift using the cab controls to ensure full functionality has been restored and the system is no longer locked out.
