08.1.43

Fendt 08.1.43 – Rear EPC (Electrohydraulic Power Control): S028 - Switch (external), lower rear power lift, right

Issue description

Signal fault or signal line fault originating from the right-hand external button used to lower the rear three-point hitch. The system has detected that the button is faulty, causing the control module to lock out the external button.

Applies to these machines

  • 922 Vario COM III
  • 924 Vario COM III
  • 927 Vario COM III
  • 930 Vario COM III
  • 933 Vario COM III
  • 936 Vario COM III
  • Fendt 300 Vario series
  • Fendt 400 Vario series
  • Fendt 500 Vario series
  • Fendt 700 Vario series (including COM III / SCR)
  • Fendt 800 Vario series (including COM III / SCR)
  • Fendt 900 Vario series (including COM III / SCR)

Check the cause

  1. Verify if the rear power lift can still be operated internally from the cab (fault typically locks out external controls only)

  2. Inspect the physical S028 switch on the right rear mudguard for damage, sticking, or heavy mud/debris ingress

  3. Trace the wiring from the S028 switch to its separation point (connector X238) and check for corrosion, moisture, or broken wires

  4. Use a multimeter to test the switch for proper continuity when pressed and released to confirm if the switch has failed internally

Repair steps

  1. Safety First

Turn off the tractor engine, remove the ignition key, and ensure the rear hitch is fully lowered to relieve any hydraulic pressure.

  2. Access the Switch

Go to the right rear mudguard where the external lift controls are mounted.

  3. Disconnect

Unplug the faulty S028 switch from the wiring harness at connector X238.

  4. Remove

Unbolt or unclip the old switch from the mudguard housing.

  5. Clean

Thoroughly clean the harness connector. Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the electrical contacts to prevent future corrosion from dust, mud, and moisture.

  6. Install

Mount the new external lower switch into the mudguard and plug it into the X238 connector.

  7. Reset and Test

Perform a 'cold start' by turning the ignition ON. This resets the control module and clears the lockout state. Test the new right-hand lower button to confirm the rear power lift operates smoothly.
