08.1.B3

Fendt 08.1.B3 – Rear EPC (Basic Control Unit ECU A050 or EPC OBE module A014): External sensor, rear power lift not calibrated

Issue description

The external sensor for the rear power lift is not calibrated. Because the system lacks valid calibration data for the sensor's range of motion, the tractor's computer ignores the live sensor data and uses pre-programmed default values to maintain basic functionality.

Applies to these machines

  • 922 Vario COM III
  • 924 Vario COM III
  • 927 Vario COM III
  • 930 Vario COM III
  • 933 Vario COM III
  • 936 Vario COM III
  • Fendt 300 Vario (COM III)
  • Fendt 400 Vario (COM III)
  • Fendt 700 Vario (COM III, SCR, S4)
  • Fendt 800 Vario (COM III, S4)
  • Fendt 900 Vario (COM III, SCR, S4)

Check the cause

  1. Check for recent service: Determine if the rear power lift sensor, the X015 external control socket, or the Basic Control Unit (ECU) was recently replaced, disconnected, or flashed, which wipes calibration memory.

  2. Check for accompanying codes: Look for code 08.1.24 (External sensor, rear power lift - Signal fault). If present, the sensor or its wiring has physically failed. If only 08.1.B3 is present, the sensor is likely fine but needs calibration.

  3. Visual inspection: Inspect the wiring harness and connector at the X015 external control socket and the rear linkage position sensor for corrosion, moisture, or pin damage.

Repair steps

  1. Prepare tractor

Park the tractor on a level surface, ensure the rear linkage is clear of any implements or obstructions, and apply the parking brake.

  2. Access calibration menu

Access the Vario terminal's diagnostic and calibration menu.

  3. Enter calibration code

Enter the calibration code for the Rear EPC system (8002 for the rear power lift position sensor and 8001 for the rear power lift setpoint potentiometer).

  4. Cycle rear power lift

Follow the on-screen prompts to cycle the rear power lift through its full range of motion (fully raised to fully lowered). This allows the ECU to learn the minimum and maximum voltage values of the external sensor.

  5. Save calibration data

Save the calibration data when prompted by the terminal.

  6. Clear fault codes

Navigate to the fault code memory and clear the active/stored codes.

  7. Test operation

Test the external rear power lift buttons (located on the rear fenders) to confirm they operate the linkage smoothly without defaulting to standard values.
