Check the cause
Verify if the Vario Terminal (A054) is physically installed in the cab (if intentionally removed, this code is expected)
Inspect the multi-pin connectors at the back of the terminal for loose connections, backed-out pins, or corrosion
Inspect the wiring harness running from the terminal to the A050 basic control unit
Test for proper voltage and ground at the terminal connector
Check the serial/CAN communication lines (specifically the TXD send lines) for continuity or shorts to ground
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery ground before performing electrical repairs.
Secure Connections
If the terminal is present but throwing the code, firmly reseat the connectors at the back of the A054 Terminal.
Repair Wiring
If continuity tests reveal a break in the communication lines between the A054 Terminal and the A050 ECU, repair the damaged section of the wiring harness.
Replace Terminal
If power, ground, and bus communication lines are intact but the terminal remains unresponsive and the code persists, the A054 Terminal itself has failed internally and must be replaced.
Clear Codes
Reconnect the battery, power on the tractor, and use the FENDIAS diagnostic software (or the onboard fault code menu) to confirm and delete the stored 09.1.C1 fault code.
Parts you might need
(1)Fendt Vario Terminal (Component A054 / A103)
Must be ordered using the specific tractor's chassis number, as part numbers vary heavily based on the exact terminal version (e.g., 7-inch vs. 10.4-inch, ISOBUS capabilities, and hardware revisions).
