Fendt 09.1.CE – A007 - Instrument panel: Visual temperature limit warning

Issue description

Triggers a visual temperature limit warning (often accompanied by related fault code 09.1.E8). This indicates that the instrument panel is receiving a signal that a temperature limit has been exceeded, or there is a fault in the temperature sensor/wiring communicating with the dash.

Applies to these machines

  • 922 Vario COM III
  • 924 Vario COM III
  • 927 Vario COM III
  • 930 Vario COM III
  • 933 Vario COM III
  • 936 Vario COM III
  • Fendt 300 Vario (COM III)
  • Fendt 400 Vario (COM III)
  • Fendt 700 Vario (COM III)
  • Fendt 800 Vario (COM III)
  • Fendt 900 Vario (COM III)

Check the cause

  1. Verify actual engine coolant, hydraulic oil, and transmission temperatures to ensure the machine is not genuinely overheating

  2. Inspect temperature sensors (e.g., B005 Engine temperature sensor, B006 intercooler temperature sensor) and their wiring to the A007 instrument panel

  3. Check for CAN bus communication errors between the A007 instrument panel and the tractor electronics (ECU/EDC)

  4. Check the VDO instrument panel itself for internal faults such as EEPROM errors, checksum errors, and internal component failures

Repair steps

  1. Rule out Overheating

Confirm actual machine temperatures using an infrared thermometer or diagnostic tool to rule out a true overheating condition.

  2. Wiring and Connector Inspection

Inspect wiring harnesses and connectors between the temperature sensors and the A007 instrument panel for damage, corrosion, or loose connections.

  3. Sensor Testing

Test the temperature sensors for proper resistance/voltage output. Replace any sensors that are out of specification.

  4. Instrument Cluster Diagnosis

If sensors and wiring are good, the fault likely lies within the A007 VDO instrument cluster itself. The cluster may require EOL (End of Line) reprogramming.

  5. Repair or Replace Cluster

If the instrument cluster is defective, it can be sent to an agricultural electronics specialist (like Ilgenfritz Mechatronics or Diagcar Electronics) for internal repair, or replaced with a new OEM unit.

  6. Clear Codes

Clear the fault codes using the tractor's terminal/console and test operate the machine to verify the repair.
