09.1.EF

Fendt 09.1.EF – A050 - ECU, basic control unit: Communication or configuration failure with the front EHR cut-off valve

Issue description

This code indicates a communication or configuration failure with the front EHR cut-off valve (Y070), such as a missing or implausible configuration message. As a safety measure, the valve moves to neutral and locks, and the pilot pressure is turned OFF, preventing normal operation of the front power lift.

Applies to these machines

  • 922 Vario COM III
  • 924 Vario COM III
  • 927 Vario COM III
  • 930 Vario COM III
  • 933 Vario COM III
  • 936 Vario COM III
  • Fendt 300 Vario (COM III)
  • Fendt 400 Vario (COM III)
  • Fendt 700 Vario (COM III)
  • Fendt 800 Vario (COM III)
  • Fendt 900 Vario (COM III)

Check the cause

  1. Check CAN bus wiring and connectors between the Y070 valve and the A050 Basic Control Unit for broken wires, corrosion, or loose pins

  2. Test voltage at the Y070 valve connector (should read 0 VDC when inactive, and 12-14 VDC when active)

  3. Inspect the valve mechanically for oil contamination, which can cause the main piston to stick and fail to return to neutral

  4. Verify if the A050 ECU requires EOL (End of Line) programming or if the front EHR system needs recalibration using FENDIAS

Repair steps

  1. Safely Prepare the Tractor

Park the tractor on a level surface, lower the front hitch (if possible) to relieve hydraulic pressure, turn off the engine, and turn off the battery isolator switch.

  2. Inspect and Clean Connections

Locate the Y070 front EHR cut-off valve on the front hydraulic control block. Disconnect the electrical harness. Clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner and inspect for damage. Reconnect and test if the fault clears.

  3. Replace the Valve

If electrically/mechanically failed, clean the area around the valve bore thoroughly to prevent debris from entering the hydraulic system. Unbolt and remove the faulty Y070 EHR cut-off valve. Install the new valve with new O-rings/seals. Torque the mounting bolts to OEM specifications.

  4. Re-establish Communication

Reconnect the electrical harness to the new valve.

  5. Clear Codes and Calibrate

Connect the FENDIAS diagnostic tool to the tractor. Clear the 09.1.EF fault code from the A050 ECU memory. Perform EOL programming/calibration for the front power lift to ensure the A050 ECU recognizes the new valve's configuration messages.

  6. Test Operation

Start the tractor, bring the hydraulic oil up to operating temperature (40-50°C), and test the front power lift through its full range of motion.
