Low voltage, short circuit to earth, or signal failure on the bypass output 4 circuit of the trailer brake valve (ABV).

   Inspect the trailer cable connectors at the rear of the tractor for dirt, debris, or poor contact, which can cause signal faults.

   Verify that the ABV activation button on the A128 control panel (right/left dashboard) is functioning correctly.

   Check the 12V supply to the trailer brake system, inspect the wiring harness for breaks or a short circuit to earth (referencing wiring diagram Sheet 7 for the A050 ECU), and check relevant fuses such as fuse 30.

   Test the control pressure solenoid valve (Y032 or Y173) for excessive current draw or a short circuit (+UB).

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes during repair.

   Relieve Pressure

   Safely relieve any residual hydraulic or pneumatic pressure from the trailer braking system.

   Locate and Isolate

   Locate the trailer brake valve assembly. Disconnect the electrical harness connected to the valve's solenoid.

   Wiring Verification

   Using a multimeter, test the wiring from the valve connector back to the A050 Basic Control Unit to rule out a harness short to ground (which causes the "low fault").

   Valve Replacement

   If the wiring is intact, the solenoid or the valve itself is faulty. Unbolt the defective trailer brake valve from its mounting bracket.

   Installation

   Install the new trailer brake valve or repair kit. Ensure all sealing elements and O-rings are seated correctly to prevent pressure leaks.

   Reconnection

   Reconnect the hydraulic/pneumatic lines and plug in the electrical connector.

   Clear Codes and Test

   Reconnect the battery, power on the tractor, and use the FENDIAS or SERDIA diagnostic tool to delete the stored fault code. Perform a functional test of the trailer brakes to ensure proper pressure balance and operation.
